About Degafloor NZ

Svend Andersen

Svend Andersen

A new millennium was just beginning, and Svend Andersen, Director of Stoanz Limited, was on his annual trip to parent company Sto Germany in Stühlingen where he overheard some colleagues commenting on product called DEGADUR®. Suspecting this would prove to be a useful solution for the New Zealand market, he quickly investigated.

He discovered it was widely used across Europe and North America to solve many of the challenges associated with contemporary resin products – speeding up installation in particular. DEGADUR® was the original MMA resin, developed in the 1920s, and is still considered the international benchmark. Svend approached the German manufacturer directly, securing the exclusive import and distribution rights for New Zealand.

Bernard Scott

Bernard Scott

Back home, Stoanz approached Bernard & Bruce Scott at BM Scott Limited. As a registered Sto applicator and a very well-regarded resin flooring installation company based in Levin but operating nationally, Bernard’s was the ideal business to appoint as national DEGADUR® distributor.

Due to the product’s substantial success and popularity, BM Scott Ltd went on to establish Degafloor NZ as a completely separate business, supplying and distributing a winning combination of DEGADUR® and StoCretec resin flooring systems. For the next two decades, these two companies successfully introduced DEGADUR® and StoCretec to the New Zealand market.

Degafloor NZ now have the import rights to DEGADUR® and a direct relationship with the German parent company, Röhm.

Stoanz continue to be the sole importer for the StoCretec resin floor coatings, while Degafloor NZ act as their national distributors and point of contact for all StoCretec flooring systems. The partnership betwwen Degafloor NZ & Stoanz is a mutually supportive relationship combining national coverage and acess to technical expertise.

Since its introduction into the NZ market in 2001, Degafloor NZ has become the default flooring solution for many local and regional councils nationwide. Whether it’s a humble (but vital) public toilet, to large aquatic centre serving tens of thousands, Degafloor is there for Kiwis in terms of comfort and safety.

We’ve also provided invaluable flooring and surfacing solutions for supermarkets, healthcare and patient support facilities, hotels and the hospitality industry, education and training facilities, the architectural sector, the food industry and much more.

Where are they now?

While Svend Andersen retired from day to day business at Stoanz in 2018, he remains a key member of Degafloor NZ and is actively involved with the business in a technical and advisory capacity. Bernard took over as BM Scott Limited’s Managing Director when Bruce retired.
